Additional Info: I work with students to find styles of music they are excited about playing. Some workshops I've developed include: Irish songs (both English/Irish language), Songs from Queens of Country Music, Hootenanny! (music of the Folk Revival), Campfire songs, Hits of the 60s and 70s, Old-Time duets, Old Time Gospel and Shape Note songs, Songs in 3/4 time, Jean Ritchie songs, Songs in Aeolian (minor tuning), Christmas carols, lullabies, English and French Country dance tunes, Americana songs in DAA tuning, rhythmic strum clinic, Bill Monroe waltzes etc.

Credentials: I have been affiliated with Community Music School as a music teacher for many years and have led workshops in dulcimer, Irish tenor banjo, and singing at various bay area festivals. Ph.D. Folklore Studies

Specialities: Dulcimer arrangements in many styles, both songs and instrumentals. Strumming techniques with a pick and fingerpicking. Backing up songs.

Other information: I love the dulcimer! It's a wonderful instrument for players at all levels and ages. In 2001 I co-founded the Redwood Dulcimer Day Festival and served as Director for its first 10 years.
